Terry Hooley lives and works on the Lincolnshire coastline two miles from Skegness. He has been fascinated by and gained great pleasure from creating things ever since he was a young boy. He has a passion for material experimentation and cross-medium interaction, utilising anything that is sensually stimulating. He works mainly with various hard and reclaimed timbers because of their natural warmth, flexibility and tactile sensuality, creating sculptures, natural edged bowls, hollow forms, clocks and anything set free by his imagination.
His sculptural clocks, which he calls 'Concepts in Time', are one-offs which combine unique form with function. He has held several exhibitions in Lincolnshire, and his work is being sold throughout the UK and as far afield as Egypt, Kenya, America and Australia.
My inspiration can be anything from architecture, film, ancient civilisations, both factual and fictional, and personal experiences; to the vast wealth of natural sources which includes the coastline and ever-changing seascapes were I live. I also derive great pleasure from expanding upon a project once the seed has formed and the creation has commenced.
