Alison Evans

Alison Evans studied a Bachelor Honours degree in Metalwork and Jewellery before completing a year of post-graduate studies at Bishopsland in South Oxfordshire. The year at Bishopsland allowed Alison set up as a self-employed jewellery designer-maker before embarking on the eighteen-month graduate scheme with Alloy Jewellers in 2007.

Her recent exhibitions include Hereford’s Contemporary Craft Fair held at the Courtyard, Centre for Arts (2008), ‘FLUX’ as part of Birmingham’s jewellery festival (2007), ‘Retrospective’, Bishopsland’s end of year show (2007), ‘Top Drawer’ at Earl’s Court, London (2007) and ‘New Designers’ in Islington, London (2006).

My training in jewellery making has developed progressively, from an encouraged, experimental period at university to an in-depth focus on making-techniques at Bishopsland, which flowed into an opportunity at Alloy Jewellers as their graduate member in 2007-08, easing the pressures of setting up as a jewellery designer-maker.

At present, I am capturing some of my ideas of stone-setting within my work, which is subtly applied to definite forms.
