The Galanthus garden

The four-acre garden at Galanthus has been developing constantly since 2004, under the direction of Herefordshire designer and plantsperson Sue Deakin. Originally part of the Clive family estate, it features many beautiful mature trees, a rill and duckpond, a woodland area, walled gardens and lawned areas with a variety of specimen shrubs and trees. There are plenty of seats from which to relish both the longer vistas and the many choice plants close-up, including:

Garden design course

A one-year, part-time course under the tutelage of Sue Deakin. Committed beginners are taken step by step through the garden design process, while improving horticultural knowledge and developing a commercial understanding of garden design. By completion of all three terms, the student will have the confidence and portfolio to either commence a career in garden design or continue on to higher education. A high degree of commitment is required, as the course is intensive and will require a minimum of six hours additional study between classes.

The course has an emphasis on the development of practical skills. Teaching is thorough with projects, lectures, workshops and garden visits covering all aspects of garden design. The Galanthus garden is used for design and planting purposes, practical horticulture and plant knowledge.
